OUR ENGAGEMENT

On August 31st, we got engaged! Ron, the King of Spontaneity, surprised me by proposing on his birthday. Ron had just had knee surgery a week before. I suggested going to a casual restaurant to celebrate because he hadn’t been out of the house since his surgery. When I got home from work, Ron said he would rather go to Sent Sovi and said he had already made a reservation. I thought it was a wonderful idea. We love Sent Sovi. It is a fabulous French restaurant in Saratoga where we had a very romantic and memorable Valentine’s Day dinner.

When we arrived, we were escorted to the back dining room where there was a table in the center of the room decorated with a bouquet of beautiful red roses and scattered rose petals. I realized that Ron had arranged for this private table. I suspected something very special was about to happen, but I didn’t want to say anything. I started to tear up almost immediately. We sat for a few minutes while Ron tried to make conversation with me, but I was literally speechless in anticipation of what I thought was about to happen. He started to tell me how much he loved me. Then, he got up from the table and walked over to my chair. He knelt down (even with a bad knee) and said "Will you give me the best birthday present I could ever ask for? Will you marry me?" Then, he pulled out this beautiful ring. Through my tear filled eyes, I was looking at him and the ring. He says I took a little while to answer, but it didn't feel like long to me. I was just processing it all. I said “Yes!” I was walking on air because I was really ready to commit to Ron, a man that I love, adore and respect.

We can’t wait to celebrate our commitment to each other with our family and friends!
